Coral Jean Cotterell Scholarship
My name is Zarith Hammond and I am a student at the OIT Portland-Metro campus studying Embedded Systems Engineering Technology. I chose a career in technology because it combines my interest of math and engineering with a platform to make a difference in the lives of others. Until starting at OIT I had never personally known a female engineer. So I was surprised and excited to be invited to join an on campus group of all females studying engineering. I have loved the opportunities to connect and learn from female professionals. Since I was never introduced to technology or engineering as a child/youth, I to I truly appreciate SWE’s commitment to outreach for younger generations. After graduating I hope to take my Embedded Systems degree into a field where I can use my skills and knowledge to enrich the lives of others through technology. |
