Volunteer Opportunities

We currently have the following volunteer positions open. If you would like to volunteer, please email  swecrs1@gmail.com or you can fill out the Google Form.

Advocacy Chair: Stay up to date on SWE’s advocacy efforts and how our local section can get involved (https://alltogether.swe.org/category/advocacy/). Lead efforts to support local and state-wide legislation and initiatives that will advance SWE’s mission.

Awards Chair: Identify awards that individuals and the section can apply for, then nominate those individuals and the section for those awards. This can be split up between multiple people to apply for the following four award opportunities: WE Local, Annual Conference, SWENext, and External Awards.

Conference Chair: Organize section meet-ups at local and annual conferences, gather attendee interest, keep the section up to date with deadlines and any other needed conference planning information.

Corporate Sponsorship Chair: Develop a Corporate Sponsorship Packet with varying available sponsorship levels. Contact companies to find section sponsors. Serve as the liaison with corporate sponsors.

Historian: Take pictures at events and work with social media/marketing chair to make sure they are published to social media channels and the newsletter. Develop post-event evaluation forms to capture best practices for annual and repeated events.

Mentorship Chair: Coordinate collegiate and professional mentoring programs. Find and pair together mentors and mentees.

Program Development Grant (PDG) Chair: Determine which section events have potential to receive PDG funding and apply for the funding. Work with section leadership to develop events that could receive PDG funding.

Membership Subcommittee: This team works with the Membership Chair and Data Officer towards section goals of recruiting and retaining members. 

Outreach SubcommitteeThe below positions will report to the VP’s of Outreach and will help support local Outreach efforts already in place as well as bring new Outreach events to the community. 

​Oregon Engineers Week SWE Representative: This person will report to the VP’s of Outreach and help coordinate Oregon Engineers Week (Mid-February). You can find more information about the event HERE.
